Chris Barnard

Conservative Leader, Husband
Background

Before running a nonprofit at the intersection of conservation and conservatism, he played professional soccer, which taught him how to compete and how to lose before he ever set foot in Washington. These days he trades the pitch for trailheads whenever he can, and that instinct for being outside runs straight into his work leading the American Conservation Coalition, where he testifies before Congress for the kind of bipartisan farm and forestry legislation Theodore Roosevelt would have recognized. He argues that keeping working forests healthy and out of wildfire's way is exactly the conservation conservatives used to lead on. He lives in Virginia with his wife, Hayley.
